Permit Test Academy ("we") runs Permit Test Academy at permittestacademy.com. This page says what we collect and why.

What we collect

• Account data. Your email address, and your name and profile image if you sign in with Google.
• Usage counts. The number of practice questions you answer.
• Visit and funnel data. A random id for your browser, the campaign tags in the link you came from (utm values, the Meta click id fbclid, the Google click id gclid), and these steps with their time: page visit, quiz start, quiz finish, price page shown, checkout start, purchase and refund.
• Checkout data. When you start a checkout, we store your browser's user agent, its IP address and the Meta and Google Analytics browser ids with the order at Stripe, so the purchase can be sent to Meta and Google Analytics (see below).
• Your answers. Which questions you answered, the choice you made and whether it was right, so the course can show your progress. Also the text of any problem you report about a question.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your driver license number, your date of birth or your home address. We never see your card number: Stripe holds it.

Who we share it with

• Cloudflare hosts the service and the database.
• Stripe processes payments. We never see your card number.
• Resend sends sign-in emails.
• Google Analytics 4 (Google) counts page visits and the steps above. It gets the page address, your browser and device type, an approximate location from your IP address, the price shown, the purchase amount and an order id. It does not get your email.
• Google Ads (Google) measures which ads lead to a purchase. It gets the page address, the Google click id, the purchase amount and an order id.
• Meta pixel and Meta Conversions API (Meta Platforms) measure which Facebook and Instagram ads lead to a quiz start or a purchase. The pixel in your browser gets the page address, your IP address, your browser, the Meta browser and click ids, the steps above and the purchase amount. For a purchase, our server also sends Meta the order id, the amount, your IP address and user agent, the Meta ids, and your email and browser id as SHA-256 hashes (never the plain email).

How long we keep it

We keep your account, your answers and your visit records until you ask us to delete them. We keep purchase records for 7 years, because tax law requires it.

Your choices

Write to help@permittestacademy.com to get a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it. We answer within 30 days.

California residents have the right to know, correct and delete the personal information we hold, and to opt out of its "sharing" for ads with Meta and Google. To use these rights, write to the same address. We do not sell personal information for money.

Children

The service is for people who study for a driver permit. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Cookies

Our own cookies:

• ppe_iid: a random id for your browser. It keeps your free questions and your paid access on this device. It lasts 400 days.
• ppe_cell: the price version this browser sees. It lasts 400 days.
• A session cookie, only when you sign in, so you stay signed in.

Advertising and analytics cookies:

• _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics 4. They last up to 2 years.
• Google Ads conversion cookies (for example _gcl_au): they last up to 90 days.
• _fbp and _fbc: the Meta pixel. They last 90 days.

To stop the advertising and analytics cookies, block third-party tracking in your browser or use an ad blocker. The practice tests still work.
